Recalibrating Creativity

Everyone is creative.  Some people are visual creators, others create in the auditory realm.  From words to wood, musical notes to mosaic tiles, pasta to pottery, everyone has a medium with which they create.

This week, thanks to my supportive family (thank you, Pete and monkeys) and friends (thank you, Jackie and Crista), I was able to come to New York City to the Altitude Summit conference to learn about all things blog.  The conference took place today and it was truly worth the investment of time, energy and money.

The conference was held at Martha Stewart's Omnimedia Studio
I struggled a bit with the decision to attend Alt. Summit because, up to this point, my blog has been a hobby.  A wonderful two and a half year creative outlet.  It seemed like a stretch to me to go to a conference for my "hobby".  However, as I have shared with you before, I feel ready to take "This and That" to another level.  I just haven't been sure what level that is.  I needed to recalibrate.

The conference gave me lots of "food for thought" (New York street food vendors have also). I feel like there is so much to learn and explore.  Blogging is a dynamic, fluid animal.  It's ever evolving and the perfect medium for creativity.  It suits me and my quirky, think outside of the box mentality.  I love that blogs can be super intricate or sublimely simple.

The best part of all of this recalibrating is that we (the "This and That" community) get to journey through it all together.  I would not have a blog without this community.  I would not have a voice without you listening and contributing. You are the backbone of this blog.  Thank you!

So, where do we go from here?  I have so many ideas swirling around in my head.  I have been catching a bit of a vision.  A little piece of a "bigger picture".  The first step was to attend this conference.  Now, I am ready to move forward with some other goals.  Baby steps...

In the next few weeks, I would love to collaborate with you.  If you are a web designer or you can recommend a designer, let's talk.  I am also hoping to find someone who is well versed in social media.

The bottom line is, this is the beginning of something fun and new, but still tried-and-true.  "This and That" is recalibrating.  Are you ready?

Hugs,

Melissa

P.S.  I have more pictures of the conference that I can post as soon as I get home.  This internet is kinda sloooow... have you ever seen the "This is a Nice Hotel" music video by Julian Smith?  Hilarious!
